I have a question I'm too nervous to ask on /g/.
My hard drive is showing signs of age and I want to buy a new one. Do I need to do a fresh install of Windows or is there a way to transfer my current install to a new harddrive?
Buy a 1TB external hard drive, backup everything on to it, then transfer the backup in a new internal hard drive.

This
What are you retarded?
OP, you can make an iso image of your windows install, and then you can install the iso image on your new hard drive. That will accomplish what you want, but it's pretty advanced stuff. I don't really know how to deal with iso shit

it's not a big deal man
get yourself an 8GB usb pen-drive and download the windows installation straight from the m/soft site onto it
this way you can do a clean install straight onto the new drive
watch a couple of youtube videos on how to go about it, and you should be fine
Just do a clean install and move the shit you want over. Trust me, there's probably so much shit on your HDD that you don't even know of that you don't want, slowing your machine down (unless you regularly defrag, etc).

that only works if you have a serial
