Actually you can tell that was actually designed by a woman. A man wouldn't have a plant, a painting, a rug, a lamp, or some stool with a alarm clock (?) on it.

Also the position of the items seems arbitrary, a man would probably put the couch closer to the wall and the tv a bit closer too.

that's some good analysis. i had a very similar layout in when i was living alone in my apartment with the couch perpendicular to the TV like this and a small folding table next in front of the couch for meals, drinks, the remote, and my phone.

It worked well for me, but it's not the kind of place I felt comfortable inviting others over to experience.
