Youre 100% wrong and youre two stoopid to know it.
First off being miserable for 4 years vs having fun with friends for 4 years are 2 completely different things.
Second everything that happens in the mil is based around if people like you. If youre a faggot litle shithead you arent going to advance or get sent to cool schools. IN that same vain when you decide to change MOS if youre dislikde your paperwork will continue to get "misplaced".
Basically if you want to have fun, make more money and go to cool schools stop acting like a smart mouth and stay quiet.
Third youre acting like you are a vet already in reality you havent even been to boot yet. How do you know you dont give a fuck? The fact is you dont. Stop acting like a snobby little kid.

First off, i only have a 3 year contract. You're assuming i'm going to piss and moan the entire time, why? That the exact opposite of my attitude. I've had nothing but a pleasant experience with everyone i've met, except the MEPS doctors. Going through this with a casual attitude is the way to go. I see these kids acting like we're about to storm the beaches and they look miserable. We're here to do a job and be a team. It's better to be casual about it where it counts instead of projecting this false sense of bravado the entire time.

>youre acting like you are a vet
no i'm just relaying my experiences and attitudes because an anon asked

>How do you know you dont give a fuck?

I was wondering it it's possible to switch jobs somewhere down the line? Like, if I did 11b for the set contract can I reclassify into, say, 42a or how does that work?

The picture is a dead giveaway of what itll be like.
Filled with women and stupid minorities. Youre a secretary. Look at the low asvab score requirement.
Again you need to choose a hard job. This leads to
>faster advancement
>large re-sign bonuses
>more respect and anonymity from everyday mil bullshit
Didnt you say you scored high on the asvab and every job was open to you?

I already said I did 4 in the navy as an OS. Got out in 2014. The game doesnt change. Choose a better job that isnt for fat women.

>>36483648
>No it will not. I can certainly get psyched about getting deployed but not about some objective truth

I mean, ideally I want to do 11B, but the last thing I want is to get put out of commission and then forced out the military, you know? And on top of that, what about transferable skills? At least I can get a desk job once I get out. My dad served almost 10 years in the CG as a Yeoman and he said it was the most fun he had. Hell, if I knew how to swim I would have attempted to enlist in either that or the Navy.

Haha I heard about the problem. I wanted to join 11B on the off chance I might see some action because that's what 11B's do. I don't want a combat role if all it means is janitorial duty, you know?
>>
I'm in the army AMA. Also it's a terrible decision for robots and the recruiters making these threads need to stop
>>

First, what do you do?
Second, how long have you been in?
Third, why do you feel the joining the military is a bad decision for robots?
Lastly, do you enjoy what you do?

>i know that he's a marine with far more experience than you, and come to think of it, the marine i know has a very similar attitude
IM agreeing with him to. But i have the right to and you dont. Thats my point.

>do what now? are you that personally offended?
Yep and if we met on my cruiser id drag you into a fan room and choke you out fag so be glad we didnt meet.

>>36484633
Again, it only means that now. If war kicks off it wont be that way. And again if youre a bad ass then go all the way and be a ranger or green beret but il tell you right now you better be a chad in hiding. You gotta be 100% stud r else youre gonna fail out.
Also
Ive swept water while its raining before. It sucks but whatever.

88M is truck driver bub. And I don't mean aviation as in actually piloting. I mean aviation maintenance or servicing, if you do repairer you can be a crew chief and eventually flight engineer which means if you pick a bird that has any room on it you fly with the bird at all times. It's a badass gig especially since you man the door gun, not to mention if you go 160th that means it's a fucking minigun you'll operate

Switching mos is something you can do after your first contract. Your first reenlistment you're given a choice between duty station and reclassing. Normally duty station comes with a larger bonus. Your recruiter will tell you you can reclassing after a year but it literally never ever happens. It's like saying "yes you CAN win 150 million with a lottery ticket".
>>
>ITT dumbasses who picked hard MOS's because they sound cool
My best friend picked Bradley Driver and hasn't even touched a Bradley since AIT
>>
>>36484633
Don't listen to that crap. Any job you'll pick you will always be cleaning something or being treated like shit. Once you get promoted enough times you just make the new guys clean everything. Even if you have a slim chance of seeing combat you'll still be doing cool shit. It won't seem cool at the time but when you're drinking with your buddies laughing about a shitty field op or deployment youll know it was worth it.
>>
>>36481735

>>
>>36484663
Airborne 13b (artillery), its not too bad. I'd definitely choose a technical job if i could go back in, like anything 35/25 series.

Almost 3 years now. Long enough i think i can give a fair opinion.

It's just not a line of work designed for real robots. The Army is very social and if you have issues being a failed chad(90% of the military) then you really won't thrive. You'll also get put on every shit detail because none of the leadership will really like you.
Overall it's just normie central.

Airborne is pretty fucking sweet though, so i'd definitely recommend that to anybody interested.
>>
>>36484837
Would also like to know this, or how to get into experimental shit. I would pilot an Evangelion, take all the lsd, replace my skin with scales, graft gills onto my throat. As long as the check clears i don't care
>>
>>36484633
11b is way overstrengthed, and if you do deploy which is unlikely if no more wars start, you will just be mopping dirt and filling sandbags downrange.
>>

In the USMC grunts are undermanned. We have E-3 as squadeaders. Promotions are a lot easier and "deployments" are 6 months on 15 months off. Mainly getting put on navy ships to sail to a whole bunch of different countries. It's not too bad.

i had thought about that but isn't that something they would investigate? my relationship with my parents is by no means good but i don't want to get them into any trouble. the ones on my legs are fairly faint, but they still protrude from the rest of my skin. my arm is, it's just fucked.

>>
>>36485225
Unless your a minor they wouldn't really investigate if that's what you're worried about. You could say it was an uncle or relative or just make something up...or you could be honest and see what comes of it. You first step would be to come up with something, meet up with a recruiter and see what happens.
>>
>>36485195
ehhhhh
arm is fucked all up and down, with a few burns thrown in there. a lot of the scars sort of merge together into one big patch of retard. legs are a bit less obvious, but there are a few deep ones that protrude and a very blatant etching of the word fag lol.
>>
>>36481735

when i joined the army i wanted to shoot shit the fuck up, got fucked picking an MOS, ended up an alcoholic going to rehab and now im just left on empty

deep down inside of this pit i call a man when i look myself in the mirror, all i see is an adrenaline junkie and a dopamine fiend waiting for a violent death, and this will never change because it is hard-wired into my soul, almost as if i knew from a very young age it was going to be this way no matter how hard i tried to change it

you will not become a better person, you will just realize that life is not as complex as you think it is, and that whatever you do from leaving the military onwards is going to pale in comparison unless you thrust yourself back into dangerous endeavors through some profession that confronts fatal events

there is no honor or glory to be had, it's a job where people are treated like shit, go to places for no reason and wait for nothing and then they die

if you want glory go audition for american idol

I am a medic in the army, been in for just over a year. It blows but certain jobs are better than others. As one of 3 medics in my company of 200+ people, I never get put on bitch-details, and if I do them voluntarily I still do them less than others but actually look like a good soldier for it. I am in an MP company and can tell you a bit about the MOSs we have here and how they enjoy their jobs:

42A (fat female secretary who probably has painted on eyebrows and is the company bicycle): works from 0530 to 2100 every day, has a clusterfuck of paperwork to deal with because people fill the shit out wrong no matter how much guidance she gives them
mechanics: various types of mechanics in my company, all do the same thing - work on vehicles. They work well past when everyone else leaves and don't really know what they're doing, so everything in our motor pool is always broken. This is the MOS that all the niggers sign up for. They all smell like black and milds and hate their job.
31B/MP: they say that MP actually stands for "multi-purpose" because they like to pretend they're not POGs and can do an infantryman's job, but that is a crock of shit. They drink the kool-aid regarding their MOS, but simultaneously hate it. They're all retarded and dickheads.
25 series/Comms: Their only real job is to pretend to know what they're doing with radios they've received no training on and to figure out how top fucked up his computer this week. They hate their job and are a bunch of nerds, but not the acceptable kind, the kind that watch DBZ abridged and think they're hilarious for quoting family guy thrice per minute
supply: dickheads, but at least fun dickheads
74D/CBRN: the kind of people you would expect to sign up for 3 years of breathing in noxious chemicals in a job that hasn't been necessary since the end of the cold war
68w/medics: we don't do shit but everyone respects us for obvious reasons. In garrison our primary job duty is to hand out bandaids to retards;
>>
>>36485463
pretty accurate

I've enjoyed every day I've been in the Army but I don't know anyone else who can say that and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. I think it can do a lot of good for some robots though.

I'm going to be enlisting in the Army in a week.

Just been spending two months working out hardcore and getting my ass in shape, eating right.

I'd like to be a 19kilo (crew member of m1 abrams tanks) and my in-law who is an officer (been at it for 9 years, god bless that man) says I should be able to do it. It's what he does, too.

Only need an ASVAB of 87 and my preliminary scores are coming out around 100 because I've been studying and shoring up knowledge for a while now.
>>
>>36486610
the only problem is if the job isn't available, plus tank drivers are cool and all but most are manlet rednecks who don't actually drive tanks because it's expensive and they're not especially necessary in today's battles.

Most combat arms MOSs are in reality just janitors currently. Instead of crossed rifles, the infantry should sport crossed mops.

>>36486654

I don't really mind, if I can't I can't and I'll take whatever else I could get.

i should've just waited the additional 9 months, i would've even taken a deployment to kuwait over being stuck in garrison for 4 fucking years playing with my dick

>>36486331

5'7 here, i started off at 113 lbs at basic, after AIT i was around 147 lbs, went from wearing a small-short to a medium-regular because i was mesomorph as fuck, my other buddy whom is 5'7 was 161 lbs cut and lean around the same time, and by the time i got out i was 155 lbs but now im like 140 again because i drink vodka like a fish

They have stress cards so they can't yell at you or mistreat you
Sexual assault prevention and reporting is repeated from commanders like every day. One misstep and you're fucked
If you didn't vote for trump or voted for Hillary kill yourself
No war going on, you won't be doing anything but being a glorified security guard at best unless you're Navy seals or some shit in the muhreens

Try again
>>
No it absolutely will not. It may help you develop very basic social awareness but unless you take initiative you'll always be that guy at the outer rim of the social circle.
>>
>>36491171
Muhreens got neutered by the UN after they steamrolled everything in the early invasion. Their chances of seeing combat are about the same as the army now.

Also rangers can be running 2-3 ops a night during wartime, their rotations are usually only 3/3 because of how fast they burn out. Lot easier to get into than SEALs.
>>
>>36492515
>a lot easier to get into than SEALs
Crossposter from /k/ and former 3/75 vet. It is by no means easier to be a Ranger than a SEAL. RASP I've heard is easier than RIP, which was a hellhole, but the training pipeline is pretty similar. The only difference is that you're a "Ranger" after you complete an 8 week RASP program and get your tan beret, but if you slack off for one second in batt you'll lose that shit off your head faster than you can see it. In Ranger batts, selection effectively continues for your ENTIRE TIME IN THE REGIMENT. You are constantly being tested and if you fuck up, you're out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say rangers aren't great too but SEALs need to crawl through shit for much, much longer. In total the training is about 18 months and the pfts never stop once you're in. You're also forced into a 6 year contract because there are no other options.
