Why is dieting so hard? Yesterday I ate nothing but today I was so hungry I ate two entire multipacks of mars bars totaling 8,000 calories.

In the full article relating to this I was able to find, where it was being tested on rhesus monkeys, they were still being fed diets with a calorie count in excess of their BMR, which is not what you're advising in the slightest. A <1k cal diet is not sustainable (unless your healthy weight is under 100 pounds) and will eventually kill you.
