I dunno, I lived alone as a neet for quite a while without getting a dime from my family. I wouldn't say it's a meme, it's just a matter of pros and cons like any other lifestyle.

I sometimes miss being a neet a little bit, but my current wagecuckery feels better overall than being neet did. Being absolved of the social pressure to have a job feels good, and my time as a neet trained me to be super frugal so I only have to work two or three days a week at my low stress job in order to pay all of my bills.
