Last week I got into an argument with a normalfag. I realized it was pointless, you can't argue with these people. You can't win. Ever. This board is effectively a hangout for your regular average joe. Normals also hate robots, like deeply, truly hate us for what we are and would love to see us dead.

Doesn't help that I loved r9k for what it let me do - escape from the pain of being alive. Can't do that anymore.

Don't take this the wrong way, but those are Reddit-tier. I don't mean this as an insult. I mean, there are literally subreddits for all of these.
This is part of a larger pattern. Other websites have eaten into our userbase.
Twitter has inherited the shitposting mantle, Tumblr does anime discussion and "creative" stuff (not well, but it does), Reddit does longform text, Pintrest does SFW imagehosting, and so on.
The problem is that our format did a bunch of things, but then other people started offering those things "but without 4channers", which is a really effective model.

So the only people left are the ones who have a reason to be here. These remains just so happen to include a majority of /pol/ and horny people. Your first instinct is to get rid of everyone you don't like, because you were recently in a growth phase, but it's not like the growth will start happening again if you just prune everything away. Moot even realized this, which is why being banned doesn't prevent you from seeing the site (and leaving for other places or starting your own board) anymore. So did Hiro, which is why /trash/ was created (to retain people who'd otherwise go to the 8). It can't be helped.

The problem with 4chan is that is has become mainstream, edgy, since gamergate, everyone and their moms know about the existence of this website since it has ended up on the news, the internet, and most importantly social media.

Teenagers, people who still think it's funny to go around spamming shit, have enough brains to solve a captcha and navigate this oddly simple website, so they are free to pretend to be apart of our community.

The porn posters come from people like you, who have to inject best girl into everything, and love to derail conversations or post off-topic threads about lactation and becoming a mentally ill transvestite.

I'd also like to mention the fact that redditor youtubers have made quite a few videos which have achieved many views (sometimes in the millions) talking about edgy things from the OG era, drawing in legitimate hyper spergs who are not self aware (which is the saving grace of the good users of this website)

God anon, I never realised how other sites have taken our userbases. I had a tumblr for a while and dear god is it such a terrible fucking platform from just a technical standpoint. It's slow, looks ugly, the audio and video players dont work, constant fucking adverts, and thats not to mention even in right wing "4chan-style" anime blog circles there's still fucktons of leftist ideology and terrible, outdated, normie memes. Its a shit site where most posts you see are garbage even if you try to follow only the better blogs, but all the fanartists and shit post there and discuss things there. It kills me when i see memes originating from their communities and not 4chan.
