Only 4 or 5 thousand men have died fighting in the middle east from 2001 to 2013, now compare that to the 400,000 American servicemen that died over the course of only 4 years in World War 2.
My town alone has a 4 mile long grave yard, and almost all availabe space was used to put crosses in the ground, the bodies couldnt fit under the headstones there were so many funerals in one town.

Can you imagine if something like this were to happen again?
A modern conventional world war could see half of our armed forces wiped out.
