Go with an open mind to what they have to say, while still remaining aware of faults that most therapists fall to, which is the constant "oh yea btdubs how does that make you feel" over and over. Also, be honest with them when they ask personal questions. It'll feel weird at first, and may not help in the short term, but nothing bad will come of it.

What do therapist sessions look like? My sister goes to one so I'm just curious.

Just do what I did and say very little to nothing at all.

I know this is kind of obvious, but you just talk. You can talk about your problems, or if you are like me just sit there in silence, occasionally being asked questions by the therapist.
