Anyone ever get over the feelings of derealization or depersonalization?

It's extremely complicated to explain to someone who's never had it.

Essentially, it's a form of anxiety that's so powerful, the person loses the feeling that they exist or are real.
Things that were always apparent to them feel like foreign objects, it feels like your decisions aren't being made yourself and more on auto-pilot.

I wouldn't wish this feeling on anyone.

For me they just went away with time. The worst is that feeling of looking at stuff and it's like a 2d plane of a single indistinguishable object.

But it took about a year.

I've experienced conscious ego-loss when I was 15 so it's more of a conscious depersonalization than an involuntary/naive one

16/17 it still happens to me four years later. but very infrequently. It took a around a year or two for them to stop happening frequency.

why are our brains so messed up?

frequently if not constantly.
it's like the whole world is just a screen and behind the screen is an empty void.

I had it for a good two years. Now, maybe every couple months, a strong wave hits me and it feels like I'm on the verge of finally waking up from a long dream, then the feeling just vanishes.

Does 1000 yard stare factor into this? i get so depressed i thousand yard stare and feel like there is nothing more to the universe then what is in front of me.
