You could request a transfer if you don't have a car and its too difficult to get there by bus, its what I did.

Just say you'll declare the guy innocent, even if he's obviously guilty. Legally, you can't be punished for a "wrong verdict," and no prosecutor will want you on the jury.

When you first show up for jury duty, they give you what's called a jury questionnaire. One of the questions is whether or not you'd be willing to put aside your beliefs and side with the law. You just answer no there, and state that there are certain laws you disagree with, and you'd be willing to use jury nullification to get the guy off the hook, regardless of the evidence. No prosecutor in their right mind will take a juror who has said in plain English that they will not be an impartial juror.
