aside from legit doctors you can do a therapist who will most likely give a much better diagnosis than a doctor could, and of course just webmding that shit never hurt. I went to a doctor 2 years back and he gave me a quick and dirty mental evaluation since I never had one and said I had depression and general anxiety but didnt want to give anything for it due to him getting in trouble for perscribing it ou so easily in the past, so he showed to a therapist and gave me a good word so I got in faster than most people would and after two sessions she diagnosed bipolar instead of depression and adhd with purely social anxiety. Long text for me basically saying therapists are the best diagnosers of mental illness but have a story I guess

modern society has a tendency to diagnose natural problems and issues as illnesses. doctors can't differentiate catalyst from causes, and most mental illnesses are nonlinear in their consequences. so if you go to a doctor, you probably WILL get diagnosed with depression or anxiety or whatever you play up. if you go to another doctor and tell him you still feel those things, he will give you more pills. there is no objective standard for mental illness, there's a reason why its definitions are so fuzzy

I honestly can't stress enough how important it is to never take the pills. they will only smooth out things, they won't make it better. only you can actually improve your life
