>tfw we're raised to believe there are objective values in this world until we grow up or smarten up and realise there are none
Why do we lie to ourselves, anon?

>abandons the concept of objective values
>embraces moral relativism
>wonders why they're miserable
These things are related, anon. You fight nature, and you'll find yourself in a miserable place.
Anon, are you here?

The point is that none human advances are based on nature anymore

just wait until you go back to objective values and you realize those objective values have been abandoned by everyone else
wait so everything exists in relativity?
>>36048932
wow, conservatives BELIEVE there are objective morals
That MUST make it true
Do you actually have an argument against moral relativism that isn't predicated on emotion but rather logic?
>>36048747
It's easier that way.

Yes.

There isnt. Nothing has any inherent value. Value is added by the observer, it is by definition subjective. But it should go without saying that such a worldview is impossible to apply to reality as you are a human and subconsciouly add value to things. Values and principles are important, its the only thing that seperates us from animals and allows us to live in relative peace.

Well it's not purely relative because there are limitations of perception because of your mind or human body in general
Though that experience differs so much (we call it qualia in philosophy) it's hard to say that it isn't relative
Even mind as a concept is relative

There are objective values. If you haven't killed yourself, then you believe that existence is valuable. If you do anything, then you believe that autonomy is valuable. If you think about something, then you believe understanding is valuable. If you believe something, then you believe truth is valuable. Value is about what you act on, and there are some things which everyone necessarily values just by existing.

Well, it is the basis thesis
It's better to be than not to be
It is purely biological - our cells want to exist, there's something that we call the will to live
idk where it comes from honestly
Any ideas anons?
