Do what will make you happiest. As another asian I can guess that your family don't care about you as much as the average white family would for their kids. I mean, they still kinda care, but your health and happiness is not on the top of the list. It is placed after many other shit, such as respect for the entire family, money making capability, you producing children to extend the family line and possibly the happiness of your own parents as well. If making you miserable and even sickly would accomplish any and all of the previous goals, then they'd go for it in a heartbeat.

It took me a long time and years of misery and confusion to figure this out. But anon, do what is best for you.
