There's two kinds of empathy. Emotional empathy which is feeling what others feel and cognitive empathy which is being able to understand what they're feeling.
A manipulative sociopath would be heavily weight towards cognitive empathy.

Women are similar in that for males they're heavily cognitive empathic but lack emotional empathy.
They can manipulate men's feelings to extract resources, emotional needs, and sex.

For children and other women they're more emotionaly empathic, which is why they get all weepy in shitty sad movies and are bleeding hearts about homeless children and other shit.
