Why does it seem like the world is a more depressing place in 2017?
Is it just the nature of r9k or are people seemingly more unhappy in the real world? Post examples of real world encounters with people that show their unhappiness with life.
My example is in the work place. I work a retail job in America and I am always friendly and positive. I do so not only because it's my job but also because I try to promote a positive image in the work place. The employees I work with though seem very apathetic, unhappy or just tired. The same can be said of most of the customers. They all seem kind of down and not cheerful even in the slightest.
They have to work to not be homeless and not starve, existing is suffering.

because the general economic stagnation in the US is spreading through the upper middle class now and the lower classes are debt saturated, restricting themselves even further
This worsens the general social situation

>post-2008 economy
>iphone generation
>movie industry oversaturated with remakes
>cynical culture
>alienated men
all kinds of factors.
The world is coming apart. Things are going to get worse, not better. People are anxious, there's a general lack of confidence. We are a late stage capitalism society, propped up on loans, with increasing wealth disparity and barbarians massing at the gates. The 2008 liquidity crisis was only a premonition, many financial experts have been warning of an even bigger, cataclysmic financial crash coming any year now. There are too many loans, too much credit, debt, and inflation and not enough actual product being created, and it's been that way for a couple decades. Expect to see people become more distrusting and isolated, hours get longer, apartments get smaller, pay raises get less frequent, mortgages get more expensive, healthcare become less affordable, more social turmoil and unrest, over the next several years until shit really hits the fan. One day during our lifetimes the dam is gonna bust, unless some miracle happens like Mars colonization or AI suddenly experiences an unexpected breakthrough.
Because Donald Drumpf was elected.
