His style, basically. Similar reason as to why the Columbine shooters were so popular, despite people like Cho or Adam beating their score. Elliot presents himself like a character, some kind of tragic villain who is simply reacting to an evil society. It's fun to watch.
Personally my favourite shooter is Adam Lanza.

He died like he lived: as a loser. Even other spree killers in robot heaven probably consider him a loser.

Columbine was the biggest waste imo, they planted bombs in the cafeteria at it's busiest hour and planned to retreat to the exits and shoot people running away from the blasts. If the bombs had gone off they alone would have killed ~500 kids and another ~300 would have been killed fleeing. But the bombs fugged up and they had to go door to door shooting and ended up with only a score of 12. Such a fucking waste.

If you don't get to at least Lanza or Cho level you suck.

Also what were Lanza and Cho's motives? I know that Lanza had autism and cho had anxiety but that's not a motive.

Cho seems a bit unknown too, he made some videos talking about dying like Jesus Christ and getting back at people, but it's all very vague.

Exactly. He was intelligent, and had many other great qualities to his personality as well. It's kind of an embarrassment to look at those others who did similar things, as they do not appear intelligent at all (even if they were), in their batshit crazy cartoon mannerisms, showing off their guns and military gear, making angry faces. Elliot simply had some style. Also his writings and what he says indicate certain level of intelligence, despite him being delusional at times.
