I mean I think they did in my case. But I started off with an underbite, so they basically shifted my jaw backwards. I still was a chinlet before braces tho. Pretty sure it just became noticeable afterward. If you are gifted with a handsome jaw now, you'll probably be fine.

Braces made me a jawlet/chinlet too. My orthodontist mentioned orthognathic surgery when i first got my braces on; he never followed up on it and now I'm stuck with a shit tier facial structure

I had braces from 7th grade to senior year of high school and I still got a pretty firm/slightly skinny fat jaw line.

Maybe overtime your mouth adjusts to it. I had my braces for only two years, so maybe in that time it moved too quickly and fucked up my face or something idk.

I think it depends on what the starting issues are and how the orthodontist decides to handle them. For me, I had a severe overbite so he used braces to pull my lower teeth/jaw back a bit and my upper teeth forward a bit less to line them up. I don't know why he took this route, but he did. The result was a recessed lower jaw. Not as bad as the pic in the op, but bad enough in combination with my other facial structure issues

If you have this, go pay for a sleep apnea test. You more than likely have sleep problems if your jaw is this receded. Insurance may pay for jaw surgery
