It's not my motive for coming here but still I very much agree. the catch is that most of the actually hardcore types (or at least a group large enough to define the culture) have long gone because of what you just wrote. im sure there are plenty of regulars still checking it out but the influx of new communities has easily done a number through sheer numbers. Now /r9k/ seems to be in some sort of split.

Aw yiis that stuff is still out there, but certainly not here. that sort of attitude would simply get memed around here. everything is turning into a parody, there's very little authenticity to use as a foundation to build on.

I hope so too, but before they move on, they might've already set the example for the new posters finding out about the site so it might not really stop at them. That said, I think it's not so much the the people, but the culture. the old culture is on the background, so it's much more likely to assimilate to the current state of /r9k/. in the long run (not so optimistically speaking) this'll be a very awkward mix of /soc/, /b/, /lgbt/ and a lite edition of wiz. so yeah, I really hope you are right and that they'll fuck off quick

the no-topic idea is great as long as the userbase can handle it. indeed, the new kids are just shitting on everything because of it.

I think, in short making this simply wizchan lite could work. Wizchan has its own problems, but I'd rather have problems akin to theirs while having the culture that r9k used to have rather than our current problems and lack of culture.

true to a certain extent. let me say that you wouldn't believe how often this board has called me normie though. i've browsed 4chan for easily 10 years and in that time i've managed to climb as a person. of course, the place sticks and you're still around but of all boards, this one seems very hostile no matter what. i suppose it would be alright to leave it at 50% shitposting which is just sad, and 50% of desperate last defence, which I can understand quite well.

stuff like this makes me wonder how the imageboard warriors who were in their mid 20s at 2008 are doing right now. i'd imagine some fixed shit up and are no longer welcome here. perhaps others feel like they're just wandering through ruins

You know I'm pretty new to /r9k/. I came here this januari from /tg/. I was briefly /adv/ but that was basically like a sad reddit. I like it here somehow, the board as a whole feels kind of comfy. I get your guys problem with the fags, I never understood why they posted here since they have their own board and the ambigous postition towards women on the board right now is a little frustrating.
However, If we remove these threads what remains? I see very little outside of what you guys mentioned here as dispiccable. The one time I made a thread on this board (also the only time I made a thread on 4chan ever thus far) I found a sickly mouse in my living room, asked what do and eventually drowned it in a bucket and buried it in my back yard. I got a few replies saying this reminded people of how it used to be. The point is, I see none of you guys making threads like these. If you want to improve it here you got to do it yourself. I don't really expect anything out of this thugh, fixing your life is partially in your own hands too and I'm not getting anywhere with that either.

The whole thing with 4chan is that it's built on memery and "board culture", but both of these things inevitably shift, as 4chan is made up of a bunch of people posting from their computers, essentially each individual poster being concealed in large part from others, so that nobody ever really knows when other posters are being ironic or "trolling" or whatever. So there's nothing to maintain, control, or enforce any particular vision of what the board should be.

Personally the most I got out of r9k was back in 2011 or so (already late apparently in the board history), when I suddenly found a place where people shared my 'feels' from being an awkward, socially anxious loner and being unable to approach or talk to women living in a gynocentric culture that bullies guys like me. Finding other people who had such remarkably similar experiences and feels was probably one of the best things to happen to me. The other thing was the "red pill" mentality that at the time still only a minority held to, r9k is where I learnt some of the most painful red pill shit about the reality of just how much power women have and how much they fuck men over, back then even the "women hate" threads seemed to be focused more on conveying a lot of red-pill knowledge on systematic gynocentrism and feminism, rather than what it is today - basically screencaps of reddit cuckbait stories reposted here where we're told to hate women. Back then much of the board was made up of "failed or "failing" normies, people who were better looking than me, had often had some friends including possibly female friends, had tried dating, etc but they were coming back with hilarious greentext stories of failing socially IRL.

The real death of r9k came with this essentialist mentality, which I believe came sometime around or after the piss-bottles thing and rare pepes.
