So... how's your novel coming along? What's your word count and how long have you been writing it?
>42k words in so far
>will never publish it because it's derivative garbage
>only keep writing it because I enjoy doing so
I've been writing it since three or four years ago. I only had probably 12k words put into it until the past six months, when I decided to go into overdrive writing it.
It would be part of a four volume series with ~120k words each if I ever manage to finish it.

76k words. And I`ve been writing it for about four years. Although most of the work has been done in random energy spikes over a few weeks.

It didn't occur to me while I came up with the idea, and I had even seen the show way back in middle school, but it's an accidental ripoff of Code Geass.
The main character in my story has the ability of great charisma, like she (most of the characters are grills because I like it that way) has a +6 modifier in D&D. She gets brought into a ploy by two other girls in her school with their own powers, whose goal is to tear down their current government and free the east side of their country, which has been sectioned off as a jail-land to keep everyone they don't want in their side banished. There are other details to it but that's mainly the bit that made me think "oh shit this is too much like Code Geass, I can never publish this".
It's derivative in a lot of other ways like being generic in general. It's basically me just absorbing all the anime I have been fed over the years and churning out the results on a Word doc. I started the concept with the thought of "How can I make this as chuunibyou as fuck?" and went from there. I never thought this would be the story that I would have written the most of.
I put in a lot of political commentary in it too, which would make it probably infuriating to some people. The protagonists would win in the third volume, but then have their entire system come crashing down around them in book four.
