NEET's or people who haven't worked in the past year: what kind of job are you looking for and why can't you find one? What do you expect from your working life?
>>
None
I don't search
Nothing
>>
Never worked in my life so nobody will hire me now. Looking to go to uni with a view to ultimately becoming a teacher. I'm then going to fuck off abroad and teach English to foreigners.
>>
A house which is the endgame costs about 400k.
A stable job gives you monthly about 2k.

The math is simple. I don't want to trade my time for money.
I want to trade my hard work and skill for money.
>>
>>35853397

OP here, should have added that other question : does your monthly income satisfy your needs? I'm really curious of what's happening since I am myself in a bad position right now.
Isn't there anything you are good at that you could sell to a company to pay you for?
>>
>>35853429

Don't understand the logic here, does it mean you can't find a job that matches your skillset or the jobs that match your skillset don't pay enough?
>>
>>35853441
>Isn't there anything you are good at that you could sell to a company to pay you for?
Of course. I just don't.

I use to do day jobs and stuff when I wanted money but currently I don't need it
>>
>>35853380
I didn't look since there's nothing better than fast food or retail anyway for some fag with no degree and no work history.

The only point of going to the misery of working is to be independent and move out and shit, and those won't pay enough to do it, so why go to the trouble?
>>
>>35853465
A job trades TIME for money.
If you make a product and sell it, you don't trade time for money.
You trade your skill and effort for potentially much more money than you could with a job.
>>
>>35853380
Why the fuck would I want a job? I expect to never work a day in my life desu.
>>
>>35853493
>>If you make a product and sell it, you don't trade time for money.
Unless you can make a product in zero time, you're still trading time for money.

If its something you need to do regularly because it brings in money that you need, its a job
>>
>>35853493
but the only products one person can produce in this world of automation are programs so unless you're suited to programming work you have no options.
>>
>>35853493

It makes sense when you think about low skills job : everyone can do it, so you just need to put your time in the balance to get your salary in exchange. In that case yep, time is money for the employee.
In the case where you add skills that other people don't have in the balance, then you're giving more than time, and the employer (or whoever pays) gives more money. That's what you refer to when you say skill + effort, it's basically skills + time that make your product more valuable than just time.

You're basically a freelance/ independent worker!
>>
>>35853528
I never understood how this works. Is it just living with parents?
>>
>>35853602

Not the guy who answered, but I guess living on gov help is a viable thing when you have low needs
>>
>>35853397
this
>>35853441
no income at all boi
>>
>>35853633

I guess it's the same question as this guy >>35853602 then

How the hell do you do?! Tell us about your underground dirty panties traffic
>>
>>35853602
Often yes. Some places in Eurostan it's viable to get neetbux and live off that, but that's damn near impossible in America. I presume there's a few who just got an inheritance check or the like and are willing to stretch it out for a long time instead of blowing it like normies do.
>>
>>35853655
yeah it's just living with mommy it's not like I take a bunch of money to support since I have 7 younger siblings.
>>
>>35853544
The difference is how much money you get for your time.
I don't want this to be a fixed number regardless of how much effort and skill you put into it.
That's the only reason why i don't want a job.

>>35853556
Good thing my field is computer science than. I'd like to make and sell a game one day.

>>35853584
Freelancing should be the standard everywhere. It makes much, much more logical sense.
You get paid for finishing a task, not your time.
>>
>>35853738
>>The difference is how much money you get for your time.
>I don't want this to be a fixed number regardless of how much effort and skill you put into it.
Commission sales works like that. What it means is that the workaholics who will make the job their entire life set the curve, and if you aren't willing to match their effort you wash out, because they'll nab everything before you do.
>>
I'm 23 and have never looked for a job

I will probably kill myself at 29 or so

as soon as I was 18 and realized how much of a sperg I was with immense social anxiety and depression I knew the game was up

I even tried going to uni at 19 but had a mental breakdown after a month

literally have zero qualifications not even high school because I stopped going due to severe anxiety
>>
>>35853738

>Freelancing should be the standard everywhere. It makes much, much more logical sense.
>You get paid for finishing a task, not your time.

It might become the standard one day! Basically a company would only need managers who have the product vision. Having a good product vision allows you to clearly define what work you need to be done. Once you know the work that needs to be done you can outsource it to a guy who has no idea what he's building aside from the small chunk he was given.

The problem here :
- Is it doable for startups?
Probably not, they can't risk having their idea stolen if the product they work on hasn't been released yet, spreading the idea using freelance workers is risky.
- Average sized companies?
Could work
- Big companies?
Would probably require too much work to find good freelancers. Once you find good freelancers, if you are big enough then you can pay them more so they keep working with you, their productivity will grow up as long as you keep them in an ecosystem. One day, they might even have enough skills and experience with product/people to become managers so it's even better to keep these good freelancers around... That's offering them a job!

Freelance needs good people to make it work correctly, it looks good but it's way harder than it looks like.
>>
>>35853828

Don't you have any hobby or skill? Some job you can work on your own? Maybe work remotely? I'm pretty that nowadays, someone who wants the bare minimum human interaction can get an education, find a job, eat and without quitting his own house.

Shit if you're good at knowing anime porn you could probably become a fine anime porn critic and make money out of it.
>>

I produce music but I keep my expectations very low due to realizing the immense amount of music that is out there. I'm also petrified of playing live for obvious reasons.
If I have any goals it is simply to make an album that I feel fulfilled with, even if it isn't successful

Not the anon you are responding to but do you have any tips for a fellow robot on how to improve music production skills? I can create something which sounds good for 2 seconds, but I can't comprehend how I turn that into minutes.
>>
>>35854003
Pretty sure /r9k/ is the wrong place to learn about music theory
Get a book
>>
>>35853919

That's quite a good one, I've spent some time with a keyboard my parents offered me dusting up in my bedroom corner. I just started picking it up, bought ableton's student version and started my first tunes, it sounds like shit. My sister sings a bit, she had her fair views on youtube (>20k views videos), I always promised her I'll write a song for her to sing, that's my own goal!

What I've heard from people who got good with music (and actually any kind of business):
- build yourself a following by getting in touch with those who would be interested in your product (soundcloud/youtube/twitter, even reddit, every place is good to shout what you like). Post regularly about things you like and see what is the crowd reaction. Is that your expectation? Are you on the path to success? Did you assume something that was wrong?
- Product content (as much quality as possible). As an avid music listener, I'm always looking for new guys with similar tastes who post new songs. I'll make sure to follow them to be the first to get their new content.
- When you get you new song out, make as much noise as possible.

Stop being a bitch, and do what you want to do, stop self pitying yourself and find a way to ace those goals of yours. Jesus man, go out there and just fucken do it, not everybody is a judgemental prick like me.
>>
>>35854062
you're assuming everyone has goals or things they want to do.

Remember how there was always a kid in elementary school who had no idea what he wanted to be when he grew up? well eventually those kids do grow up, and they still don't have any idea what they want to be.
>>
>>35853482
I know it's defeatist but this. I'd lose it all to loans anyways.
>>
>>35854003
all I can say is practice. learn a lot of chords and try to intuitively know your way around the keyboard and your DAW. Most music is pretty repetitive with minor changes if you look over the course of a whole song

>>35854047
those are good tips. my problem most of the time is that I'm so depressed I don't care whether I succeed or not. in fact I am terrified of success. The thought of being semi famous actually gives me a panic attack
>>
>>35854003
>>35854033

Yup, get a book, watch youtube videos, learn about music theory. Know that music is an ungrateful world where immensely talented people can go unknown all their life (don't misunderstand me, tons of shitty artists go unknown for the good reasons). Be proud of the work you produce and start a new song when you get one done.

Before anything, when you started a song you like but don't want to get a part you find "boring" done, get it done anyways. If you are in charge of everything, you can only judge your improvement on your fully finished songs.

Q: what kind of job are you looking for and why can't you find one?

literally any.

client of california department of rehabilitation's blind field services for five years and my counselor's best efforts at helping me find job leads were MLM orientations.

can't find a job because i'm 4'11", one-eyed, and wear hearing aids.

all of these are liabilities to the employer: oh no he can't reach items on high shelves. oh no what if he can't see the words on the computer. oh no what if i verbally give him directions from across the floor and he couldn't hear and i have to waste time and productivity repeating myself.

better to hire a more qualified individual like an ex-con. see pic related.

Q: What do you expect from your working life?

just to come in, help out, feel like a part of society

get a little cash to supplement my disability income

maybe stay part-time so i can keep getting my benefits that way i'll still have it in the event that i lose my job for whatever reason.

would rather not stay cooped up at home feeling like rejected garbage

but i guess if that's what everyone wants, then i'll just stop offending everyone with my choice to remain alive.

I want someone who would appreciate my coding skills I have acquired during 7 years of NEETdom

but I refuse to meet with anyone IRL
>>
>>35854317

Take this as a good lesson, and think about a good answer for next time

Q : Why did you drop out?
A (suggestion) : I started asking myself wether or not I should drop out when I realized I wouldn't have enough money to complete my education. Plenty of skills you learn nowadays in college can be learned through online courses now, I decided the diploma was not worth involving my future and maybe my family with the debt. (There are plenty of articles on the internet showing how the student debt might be the next big crisis, of course no one wants to be part of it).
Q (very likely) : Makes sense. So what skills are you talking about? What did you do to improve yourself after dropping out of college?

Your turn to answer and impress the guy. There's no need for much. Get one certification through coursera and you can totally go on with the interview.
>>
>>35854544

Funny how you look for people's acknowledgement on your skills, but want nothing to do with them.
Internet is your friend, just start putting yourself through actual projects and works that show that you have valuable skills. Someone with no diplomas/reference/projects have no value to an employer whatever skill he claims having.

You don't have diplomas, I guess you don't have references, so go on with side projects. Are you web developer? Build cool apps, even if they do basic stuff. Show finished products that you spent time thinking about. Look at other people's work and maybe get involved in online communities to get a sense of what job you could be looking at today. You didn't choose the easy path, employers are very cautious of self-made programers, but you can make it.
>>
>>35854451

Don't focus on what people might see wrong with you. You can't reach items on high shelves? Buy yourself whatever clamp can help you catch these stuff.

If the employers says to you "yeah but you have bad-hearing", show him how people overcame this issue at your previous job, and how in addition to not being a liability, you are a huge asset that can bring stuff to the company he's hiring for.

Some people won't get over your disability just like some racist HR won't get over people being from a different race than they are. Don't focus on these guys, you don't want to work with them anyway. You'll be the one rejecting them and not the other way around. Instead focus on those who are ready to listen to you and to look at what you have to offer. It might sound very optimist but I guarantee that's how it works and that's the way you'll manage to walk into an interview with maximum confidence. Hope this helps!
>>
>>35853380
Been unemployed 4 years. On heroin for 5 years. Hope I die soon. I've tried, but opioid overdoses aren't as reliable as I thought, even with benzos.

Anyways, if you got good connects you can easily make more money with dope than a wagecuck. Only problem is you'll probably live in some shithole with other junkies.
>>
>>35854673
I built one project that now ranks in top 5 in my niche in terms of traffic.

My problem is I'm not and never will be a team player. After years of isolation I have problems with talking to people IRL or on the phone
>>
>>35854863

Wage life must suck when you see an easy solution that could bring money with not much effort. Glad you see that this other life would actually lead to a worse situation in the end.

I never came close to be in the situation you are in but I sincerely hope it gets better! Does US put together reinsertion programs to help you build some kind of action plan?
>>
>>35855032
I'm in Europe, and yeah they help. Way too much imo. Giving out Suboxone left and right, I get okay money just because I'm diagnosed with depression, and whatever happens, you'll always have a bed to sleep in somewhere.

If they were stricter I would have man'd up and quit this shit long ago. Selling small amounts of dope gives you just 2-3 weeks in jail, and benzos are just a small fine. Doing 2-3 weeks in jail while on a big heroin habit is worse than 2-3 months clean tho so there's that at least...
>>
>>35854935
>I built one project that now ranks in top 5 in my niche in terms of traffic.

Shit that's already good! You can definitely build on this. Not being a team player is hard to overcome when working or even looking for a job. Today, everyone has to be social and nice to coworkers, especially in the US it's crazy.

Getting back at your first comment, not being a team worker doesn't mean that no one can appreciate your coding skills, quite the contrary. You just have to shape up your communication, make it at least functional and it will get you a long way. You won't become the friendly office guy from day one, but social skills can definitely be practiced and improved.

For example, you probably have a user base on the project you built, right? A good way to practice your social skills could be to connect with your user base and figure out what they think about the app and how you could make their user experience more pleasant. You don't even have to implement the change, just figure out what they like and don't like about the product you developed. Being able to listen to customer is definitely a marketable activity, and because you focus on the app you built you don't need remarkable social skills at all, the conversations won't go in unknown fields.

just looking for anything man its tough.

i hate putting like 10 applications in one week and not hearing back from any of them really makes you feel like ending it. whats really bad is when you od a follow up with some of htem and get the most stupid responses -

>hey its anon i applied online a few days ago wondering if hte postion still open?
>sorry we dont actually pick the interviewees theres a team of people in atlanta that decide and will call you to schedule an interview

>hey its anon i applied a little while ago seen on teh job site hte position is still open?
>oh no its been filled for months now we just forgot to take hte job posting down

like fuck me man and then my family thinks i dont try like statemtns 'oh anon you can have ajob in a day if you tried' like jesus christ do they not see how i get fucking rung around?
>>
>>35855156
>whatever happens, you'll always have a bed to sleep in

That's cool, it gives you a solid base to build on. The hardest part is being able to make radical decisions in a comfy environment (why would you want to change if you can live with what you have, right?). Set yourself a one week / one month / three month goals. Once you reach the deadlines, see if you reach your goals and if not, what went wrong? Is it a simple lack of motivation? Was there an exterior event that impacted your life? Could you have done something to prevent it?

That's what I have done, here is how it worked for me : at first I didn't reach my goals, but I forced myself into stating why it didn't work. 95% of the time it was the lack of motivation. At one point I was fed up with realizing that 95% of the things i didn't achieve were because of a lack of discipline, and I decided to do things better. 95% became 60%, and 50% and blah blah blah

Anyway what really worked for me was being true to myself while not beating myself up (doesn't really matter if I got a C instead of a B on the test, what matters is that I know it was just because I couldn't get my ass to work). Find whatever floats your boat to keep motivated and stay off the easy path that your country might offer you. Hoe this helps, good luck!

>whats really bad is when you od a follow up with some of htem and get the most stupid responses

That feeling sucks, I know! I hate knowing that I am not even worth a phone call to let me know the position was filled.

Basically you can't complain that everybody is mean with you, because they are three solutions to your problem:
- Either you apply to all the assholes companies
- Or you don't fulfill the job requirements
- Or you fulfill the academic requirements (that are given on the website), but your cover letter or something else in your application is messed up so it makes you a bad pick every time.

Look back at your application, get it around on the internet saying "hey guys I'm looking for this kind of job do you think my application makes me look like a good fit?". I'm pretty sure you'll know very quick why no one answered your calls.

I've been NEET for 4 years. Recently got fed up with being sad and alone with no no money so i applied to Walmart and Target. Got a call from Walmart the next day and we set up an interview. But then I realized what that path meant for me. I realized i was turning into the fat autismo retail worker who lives alone collecting toys and masturbation supplies. Realized becoming a wizard was not something i'm willing to do. I contemplated the exit bag but then said fuck it and went to the Army recruiting office. Month and a half later i've signed everything and i leave in 3 weeks.

I'd rather be an underpaid asset of the military than a wagecuck.
