Does anybody else do this
>be somewhere between awake and asleep
>see words in my head and start reading them
>I never remember what it says but it seems to make sense to me at the time
>the text can be in different formats like a Wikipedia article or a text message or a book
>it's like my brain is just making up stuff for me to read
Is this normal

I sometimes get that with melodies and lyrics which at the time seem incredible and meaningful yet I cannot for the the life of me ever remember anything

Are you aware that it's in your head and you're not actually reading something?
When this first started for me (about two years ago) I thought it was real. But now when it happens I'm aware that it's in my head and I usually snap out of it after a few seconds but then I might fade back into it again.

Oh and the first time this happened to me, I was on opioid painkillers that the doctor prescribed me after surgery. I thought it was an effect of the pills.
But ever since then it's been happening to me when I'm completely sober.
It's hypnagogia
