The ban on Talos wasn't even enforced in Skyrim until Ulfric murdered half the Reach trying to make it legal, when he, as a Jarl himself, knew wasn't something the Reach Jarl could do.

The Empire was more than content to bide their time and build up their army so they could beat the Elves for good, but Ulfric (after being broken and manipulated by the Thalmor) just had to start a war for nothing so he could waste precious resources on both sides.

All the Empire needed was time and troops, something the Altmer couldn't use due to their low birthrates and aging.

Ulfric just wanted power for himself, and he's a known tool of the Thalmor.

Magic in general is pretty dogshit in Skyrim.

Morrowind had the best magic system I've ever seen in any game, but of course they had to 'streamline' it and dumb it down to just a handful of pre-made spells.

No more of that good stuff like Levitation or Opening spells. Nah, play our shitty lockpicking minigame a million fucking times instead.

I still remember those vertical hallways in Telvanni towers, because after all wizards don't use stairs.

There's stone/earth-based spells, some teleportation and time related spells, great utility and fun stuff as well. The perk overhaul adds cool stuff too. If you still want more look into colorful magic, but it can be pretty overpowered.

Morrowind in general had a lot of good elements that made it more adventurous, like levitation and opening. Also I liked the Stat system and level up system way better, since it allowed you to optimize your character of you wanted to.

They should really take the adventure, rpg, and world design aspects of Morrowind, and combine then with the newer engines. All they need to do is make the beginning game fairly easy regardless of how you put your stats (since most causals don't get that far in the game anyways), and make the later game very difficult unless you optimized a bit

Oh yeah, I forgot about the stoneskin spells and stuff like that. Honestly the reason why I like it so much is because it has those neat, but not too useful spells, like turning iron into gold. Oh, no, I mean like you're throwing boulders at people and summoning stone atronachs. There's a really neat high level one that marks an area, and when an enemy gets staggered in it a stone spike shoots up and impales them. There's also one that sets up a boulder that floats and vibrates every few seconds and staggers enemies, they go really well together.

I recently got back into Skyrim. I don't understand why everyone on /v/ hates it. One thing I really appreciate are all the dialogue options, in most quests, your character can ask very reasonable questions (such as "why can't you come with me?" or "why do I have to do it like this?"). It goes a long way to making the game more immersive and believable.Not to mention it respects the lore of the series way more than Oblivion did.

I'm currently role playing a wood elf.

He's a gruff old man with a bad eye. Barok Magic-Eye. He left his homeland on questionable terms because he wanted solitude to hunt and fish and live at peace with the world far from his brethren. However, his peace was cut short when war found him in Skyrim. He wasn't a religious man, but he sympathized with Ulfrics cause. Didn't hurt that he lived roundabouts windhelm and was technically drafted.

After the war ended things went mostly back to normal for our hero. A nice house in Windhelm his war plunder afforded him and all the peach he needed to explore nature.

As far as stats go, he uses light armor (stormcloak general armor) bows as primary weapons, alchemy for poison arrows, and alteration because I never got to use it much.
What difficulty do you guys play on? I play on expert master becomes unfun really quick. Idk why they mad legendary it's not like anyone plays it...Right?

I don't get this mechanic at all but I like it anyway. Using poison on crossbows and arrows make way more sense, but since I one shot most anything with arrows anyway I don't really use those that much sadly. Even if I put it up on legendary it takes two at most for everything except dragons and dungeon bosses.

That's why I was able to get into it. I was RPing as an orc that was just never interested and combat and battle or honor like the other orcs, and instead was just fascinated by the scientific aspects and the many uses of magic. I usually have him go on a journey to join the mage college to fulfill this pursuit.

No, not by themselves, but the Altmer have almost no presence in Skyrim except a few strongholds on the western side. They also have low birthrates which is why they offered the peace treaty in the first place, they couldn't keep their numbers up despite being superior at magic. They also offered the peace treaty so they could gain access to Skyrim's 'pillars' or whatever, they don't really care about winning the war, just ascending back to whatever energy plain they were in before being given physical bodies.

I don't know, I think they're one of the optimal races for paladin class. I just made a new dark elf character recently and got him up to like level 130 in a few days, it was frightening how quick I could OP him. The altmer got lucky, and they only clamped down on public worship in two cities. There are 9 last time I checked, so it wasn't like they invaded every province and clamped down on everyone. Talos worship was doing just fine. Even shit hole riften had a public shrine people could go to. A lot of provinces have HUGE talos shrines that anyone could go to last timeI checked(the horn of the young king, and a few more you can find around) they are completely public, but out of the way, since only a true, strong nord would make the journey. They ain't guarded by a single thing except some wildlife.

Yeah the Talos worship was only enforced in a few of the holds because they hadn't been able to fully implement it across Skyrim due to the civil war and disobedience of half of the holds.
