Let's start with what you do remember

I used to be able to remember nearly everything when I was younger, now as an adult I can't remember shit. I'll read a whole book and remember only a few things out of it. I used to read a book or an article or watch a TV show, then come across it years later and within a sentence or two it would sound familiar and I'd realize that I'd seen it before, now I can reread something after one day and barely recognize any of it. I think years of depression and shut-in life has permanently destroyed my brain.
