TOR sites have some gore, cp, illegal shit, disturbing shit, and boring shit, too. But they aren't communities so much as they're catalogues for perverts and degenerates of different sorts.
Online communities have been wilting away, it's a real sad matter. KC got deaded by the popo this week and so did other presumed by the government as 'alt-right' image boards and forums for 'hate speech.' Hopefully this stays only in Germany, because the US is having trouble with the same PC shit...
Reddit is cancer, 4chan is bloated, a lot of chans are getting depopulated and are dying. Never used usenet, but I don't believe it's thriving.
I don't know previous users find refuge, or if they're doomed to forever lurk everywhere in search of a substitute for what once was a decent hub for banter and OC.

Eh, kiddos have always been on 4chan. What different is the sheer number and the proportion of them that's posting. Maybe I'm being an old fart. Either way, I think 4chan will, if it doesn't get shut down for financial or legal reasons, become run-of-the-mill, like reddit or any mass media, and something new will pop up where the decent users will slowly congregate.
'How' , 'where' and 'when' are good questions. We shall see in due time.

Agreed anon. 4chan's best-before date was probably sometime in 2010. It's probably the amount of exposure 4chan have received from other more mainstream sites like reddit and before that gaia, that has essentially ruined it. I imagine the traffic is probably greater than ever but I can hardly imagine the site becoming like reddit. Rather I've seen the content here become less and less appealing, and yet I'm still here...

the Russian 2ch has a lot of boards, a good chuck of which are regular, unlike 8ch, which has less than 10 moving boards. There are underaged fags there, too, but the quality is so much more better, I don't see any repetitive content, forced memes or like childish nonsense.
