You should have waxed. It would have reduced your hair growth too. I'd only shave if I can put up with exfoliation every week (which I can't).

Don't shave over the same area more than twice. After you shave you're supposed to moisture after 15 minutes. And exfoliate to avoid ingrown hairs.
