Do "oldfags" actually serve a purpose on this board other than participate in the "ree new people" circlejerk?

Excellent meme, internet narwhal! One bacon-wrapped upvote for you, good sir!

I've been on 4chan since 2006 and I think bragging about how many years you wasted on a site doing absolutely nothing with you life is pathetic.
People who complain about how things aren't the way they used to be need to fuck off.

We're probably the only ones who still make content for this site as a whole.

That's the stupidest fucking thing I've heard in a long while.
Thanks for the kek, anon.

oldfags keep the culture from mutating into something unrecognizable and produce more original content

i hate newfags as much as the next guy, but its a fact that reddit is the biggest creator of content in the entire internet, and a huge portion of it floods 4chan including this board.
Older posters set a standard on what the average 4chan user should be like. I know that at least for me I saw all of the content that oldfags would make and I would think to myself "I want people to compliment and seek out my work like that someday". They keep 4chan 4chan instead of an edgy reddit, which I commend them for. As the years have gone by I've seen all of the oldfags migrate to the less popular boards (/r9k/, /vp/, /tg/, etc) due to the rapid increase of normalfags on the more popular ones. Normalfags ruin boards, with /b/, /v/, and most recently /pol/ being the most striking examples of this. I hope you oldies stay here forever, I'd hate to see what would happen if you all left. t. a 2011 babby
