I think it's actually society wide. Transgender and AGP are becoming more common in society at large because of very broad generational and sociological trends.

IMO the whole explosion of 'social justice' and the increasing preponderance of traps and trap fetishists are BOTH symptoms of the same broader trend. I noticed it began to take off after the great recession had stewed for a while ('09-'11), but I'm not sure if that is why.

People on 4chan tend to get it wrong, usually they say that because the two ('SJW' and 'traps') are correlated they must have a causal relationship. But I think that's incorrect.

Traditional faggotry (as in, what you might find in a bara thread on /y/) is largely unchanged.

But yes, I think the anon saying that trans threads are a 'new thing' is correct. That has definitely changed.

To elaborate also, I think that trans falls into two types. Those who feel like a girl from the very beginning, ie from childhood (these are a less variable percentage of the population and have pretty much always existed).

And those who have sort of a crisis of masculinity somewhere in their teens (?) and turn to being traps or worshipping traps in response (and also, posting trap threads, arguments about gender, and AGP shit all over the internet)

I do think masculinity/femininity is cultural, so I think the second type has exploded in recent years due to broad society-wide changes. The first group hasn't changed in proportion -- they are just more visible because the second group worships them and politicizes them all the time.

I'm honestly curious what you guys think about this theory.
