I feel you. The same thing happened to me with TF2, and afterwards I slowly lost interest in most video games in general.

Runescape. I learned to make online friends there. Well, "friends"...they slowly disappeared over time as we grew up. Good times to remember though.

I hope they haven't wiped my account and kind of want to go check, but I don't want to re-download the game driver stuff.

I honest to god used to love tf2 to death as well. i poured in almost 6k hours into it over the years. I stopped playing it after around 2 years ago when valvve just started pumping out the same old shitty hats and the game started getting a competitive vibe to it which really turned me off the game.

I've been playing Pokemon and smash Bros CONSISTENTLY for like 12 years now. I have no clue I how many hours I have total on those games. It's probably a really sad number. These two games are my LIFE.

This is a huge turn-off for me as well, and Valve is pushing it in that direction even more, with horrible results.

I hit 2700 hours last weekend in TF2. I'm still having fun, sometimes I still binge it overnight. So much fun to see new players doing stupid shit. I also play a lot of MvM though to be fair, I'm not kidding when I say nearly a third of my game time must be from MvM.

I don't think TF2 has a strong competitive vibe, it's there if you look for it but very easy to play just for fun and dick around on community servers.

This is gonna sound stupid and I know i'm stupid. Always wanted to play one, fully aware emulators are things of existance but i'm too stupid to run one. I ran one for a little bit but I couldnt save my game, was too lazy to figure it out so i deleted it.

Mount & Blade: Warband, the cRPG mod specifically. Everything about it was perfect.

CS:GO recently. Another perfect game although the community is toxic and cancer.

Halo 2. I met my best online friends there, played for years until they shut the servers down.

Runescape. Used to play with kids from school until they got bored then I joined a nice clan.

Age of Mythology. My first big love, I made and played all kinds of fun custom maps.
It's got to be multiplayer and allow people to create their own unique emergent gameplay.

That's the key to a game that can stay fun and exciting even after thousands of hours.

I've been thinking about it, recently dug out the old DS lite, in the city over (which is 30 mins away kms) they have a used game store and I saw some Pokemon games there. I was very tempted but I settled for pic related.

If you like building/engineering games, then look no further for a new title. Space Engineers is one of the best things ever. Got an idea for a cool sci-fi spaceship? You can probably build it. It has a great modding community and weekly updates.

It's such a weird thought to me that this game could have very easily never existed. The original Team Fortress was a fun side project by some guys in college and TF2 underwent about 7 redesigns over the course of 9 years before they settled on what it is today

Yes, F2P is honest to god what killed it (also, kept the game alive, so I guess zombified it). Median age of a TF2 player dropped probably 4 years.

I have 2600 hours in Dota 2 but I don't really like it, I don't know if I ever really liked it

Same here, only managed ~1130 hours or so. Then some shit went down with the Auz/nz guys, a load of cancer setting servers came up.

Everyone just left the game, and now only 2-6 people are on at peak times. Fuck playing at 200+ ping servers. At least everyone i knew from Ro2 is playing the RS2 beta with me now.

I know a few of y'all can relate, but the first Dark Souls hit everything righr with me and is my favorite game ever. It was almost like turning on Ocarina and hearing that menu music, but as a lot older. I spent so long learning all the little bits myself (hate spoiling games) and then when I discovered pvp I had a blast. Making characters was so much fun even if I spent 10 hours to make them only to pvp for like 2. I'd still be playing it if people were on and hacking and reddit didn't ruin it.

Maplestory WAS MY SHIT from 2005-2011. Back before the Big Bang patch happened, back when there were only 4 jobs to play as. I thought the new 5th pirate class was cool and they should've just left it at that...

I've only played madden 17 since launch, no other games. I've gone through every scenario I could think of in cfm and fucked around in mut for a bit. Played it earlier today before my studies as drew lock becoming the niners starter.

It's been complete and utter shit since the merger but I find ways to make it enjoyable.

Shit man I'd play with you on pc. But yeah you missed out hard. I used to spend hours chilling in the forest. I'd take on gank squads and then maybe get lucky and bave back up or I'd pull the host to the bridge and knock off his summons. Then there was low level pvp where you could one shot them but you had to be careful because ypu were usually a glass cannon. Let's not forget chameleon invasions where you'd run around with ring of fog and camp out the fog wall as a box which would usually net you a ton of hate mail. Disrupting fight clubs was also fun if yoy managed to make the participants kill the host.

Man that's been my last favorite game. I only used dota as a time sink to fast forward my life because i hated/hate it. Overwatch is fun, but I'm doing the same. Esports isn't my thing. I'd much rather coop or crash some random's party.

I played ever since it came out and I still do.
I got GM status on one of my accs, the other dropped out of GM due to inactivity and the third is in mid masters.

I don't even want to know how many games of Starcraft I have at this point

For me it was an mmorpg called Wizardry Online. It was like it was made just for me. Sadly it didn't last in the west long because people are too casual and it just recently died in Japan.

I have at least 400 hours in every neptunia game. It's an addiction. send help.

I'll come in with a new one and say Monster Hunter, Freedom Unite to be precise. I can't count how many nights I spent with my PSP, grinding every monster for that one rare part to complete that one perfect armor set or weapon. Would still be playing it but I don't really have time now that I'm older. Probably my favorite game of all time still.

I don't think I've ever found a game that I've enjoyed as much as THUG 2.

Granted though I am looking at it through nostalgia goggles, and if I was to play it for the first time right now I'd be hung up on the fact that the game can be beaten in ten minutes.

Regardless though, I didn't now this when I was a kid.
