It is a fascinating historic event. People become fascinated with events because they find them interesting. For myself, I find the catacombs in Paris interesting because there are literally thousands of miles that have not been traveled yet and the movie "As Above So Below" shows you what could possibly happen if you did. I feel like it's a very dark and evil place but I think I would tour it.

Another explanation is the past-life theory. Basically this means that you are interested in certain events in history because in your past-life, you were apart of that specific event. Maybe you were one of the astronaughts or perhaps a worker for NASA while the event happened and it changed your life.

As a child you remember things much more vividly, especially people dying. This is probably because there is no context surrounding the events that happen to you as a child, so that they become your base understanding thereafter. Listening to someone burn alive even on a computer is incredibly traumatic which is probably why your mind is obsessed with it.

Three astronauts training for a space mission in 1967, rocket isn't even fuelled, cockpit randomly erupts into flames for literally no reason at all. Door was melted shut, crew are sealed inside and die of asphyxiation, also suffering thermal burns. The (empty) spacesuits look really ghostly, like zombies. There's footage of them screaming as they burn.
