Humans are rather primal, most of the bad things in society exist because of people being unable or unwanting to overcome that.

Seeing as how this social isolation phenomenon is present in the West and East Asia, I'd say they both have two things in common.

The first is a dependence and addiction to technology and the other is a masculinity crisis.

The biggest problem is the inability to see most people on an individual level because we simply lack the time and capacity.
