Is it worth it to buy the original pokemon cards? I really couldnt

If you have a friend you can play with, sure. Don't buy the element cards though. Nobody used to use them during my teens.

I've got full fossil, base, jungle, 2nd edition and rocket sets. waiting a few years and then I'll sell them when they're total worth maybe $3k. right now I've got something close to half that in value.

the thing is I'd just spend it on some other useless shit like comic omnibuses I wont touch. I have no bills so my money usually just sits there. I figure if I just spend a few bucks here or there on new cards rather than buy them all at once it wont be such a big deal if I get tired of it

fug I had most of the originals and at least 2/3rds of them disappeared, probably in my lego collection and some other boxes. The ones I still have are mostly destroyed. children shouldn't be allowed to own anything

Nah shit isn't worth it. A large reason I wanted those cards so much as a kid is because I foolishly thought they would be worth good money if I collected enough of the right cards. Same shit with those Beenie Babies.
