I used to go on twitch a couple years or so back. Didn't do much in the chat. Then one day I'm on this small channels stream, like 20 viewers, and he was playing an old school game, a favorite of mine. (Final Fantasy IV SNES).

I was excited to see this, and the chat was slow, so I made some conversation with him via chat about the game. Then as we talked I realized how this wasn't a person to person conversation to him, even with his small viewership, he was talking down to me like I was a fan of his or something. Like if he viewed his audience not as people, but as his sycophants. Couple days after, similar experience in another stream of a FF6 ROM hack, except this time it was other chat users getting on my case because I was making general chat instead of kissing the hack author's ass like the rest of them were.

Turned me off, and I guess that opened up my eyes to seeing that basically everyone was like that, and how toxic and fucked up the twitch culture really was. Hit logout, cleared history, and in the last two years have only been back on the site like 3 times and I don't even bother to login if I do.
