They're not practical at all. They're too hot in warm weather, but don't cover up enough in cold weather. And depending on your legs, they could either fall down and need to be pulled up all the time, or bite into your thigh fat in a very unflattering way.

Plus, they're considered slutty. Not that girls necessarily avoid slutty clothes, but thigh highs are seen as trying too hard, intentional sluttiness whereas something like short shorts are just casual, incidental sluttiness. You can't wear them on a night out either, where it's appropriate to put effort into looking slutty.

idk anon. I used to wear them in high school but people started making lewd remarks about them, so I just started wearing regular socks and knee-highs again. I don't wear skirts and dresses anymore unless I have tights on, because when I went to Florence last summer, I got a bunch of mosquito bites, and now my legs (including thighs) are ugly and covered in scars.
