Depending on how much you smoke, 48hrs is plenty. I did thirty hrs between smoking and the saliva test. Make sure you brush super well and USE MOUTH WASH multiple times.

i thought the test was going to be a couple days ago, and i did brush all over, and use mouthwash after about 20 times 24 hours up to when i thought the test was.

Saliva tests are notorious for unreliability. You could test positive for a joint you smoked up to a week ago or negative despite chaining bongs that morning.

From general consensus, consume anything acidic just before the test and this should give a passing result, examples being a can of coke or using mouthwash.

Anecdotally, a friend of mine passed her test despite smoking a couple of cones literally in the carpark of the doctors office. All she did was rinse her mouth with a can of coke on the way in. Your mileage may vary, but you should be alright if you do a solid mouthwash in your car beforehand and follow it with a coke.
