But people are complaining about legal immigrants (or possibly people with work visas) taking over factory jobs and jobs in rural communities, and being paid lower wages to boot. I don't understand how U.S. law would permit this.

Are these types of political views simply based on non-factual interpretations of economic policies in the U.S.? If that's the case, then it seems unfortunate that so many Americans would go to the voting polls with these kinds of views in mind. And President Trump certainly likes to cater to this audience.

I am 27, have lived in America all my life, and have never heard anyone complain about legal immigration in real life. The illegals that people worry about are drug dealing murderous gang members. My once peaceful section of the city is so overrun with illegals and violence that school is cancelled once or twice a week because of heavy gang activity.

Immigrants are 30% more likely to start businesses, which employ Americans. (4.7 Million of them, to be exact)
They are an added income for the government.
They also increase the income for Americans themselves. Around 1% between 2012 and 2016.

Also foreign workers who send portions of their income to their families overseas become a net drain on the economy which damages the wages and job prospects of the native population by decreasing domestic economic activity.
