Assuming you are aged between 18-25 your father is probably from the first wave of shitty parents, Fathers don't know how to raise children anymore especially not sons.

Either they try and have nothing to do with the child or are too weak or too harsh, no idea how to be real men.

Real fathers know how to be loving whilst maintaining they're authority.
