I usually combine it with something else, mostly pictures. I guess the appeal of erotic literature for me is, that it can capture specific scenarios that can't or can't easily be portrayed in porn, such as long-term chastity, the receiving end of blindfolding/isolation, snuff/castration, and in general the feeling of letting go and giving yourself into someone elses hand.
