>ITT we post games that kept us sane during our crippling loneliness in high school.
Pic related, kept me away from any nooses while I was in HS.
I'm so old it hurts
Empire Earth and Stronghold Crusader my nigga.
>>35500719
mid sh nr 45 no reli no siege
fucking slut rushers
>>35500719
I wish I could get this game working on windows 10.
tf2 used to be so comfy.
too bad I was too much of a /b/tard cancer at the time to actually appreciate that
world of warcraft was fucking amazing
Me and the only two friends I've ever had played it and still play it.
>>35500747
Install XP In a virtual machine.
Can't believe it's been 6 years already
>>35500663
This always took me back to a better place.
GTA IV. Something about that game, man. Just so much more fun to explore than all the other GTA's.
>>35500663
TF2 really was a great game for high school. You could get on a server where you know everyone, and they are all as autistic as you. It made me feel a lot less lonely. I haven't been on my main server in about a year, but if I logged on people would still probably recognize me and I could talk to them like I did when I was 14.
>>35500754
Man this pic never fails to hit me in the gut.
>>35500663
Too bad TF2 sucks shit since Valve decided to do NO quality controls and partnership with a site that is known for corruption and match rigging.
That and Valves love for allowing copyrighted content into their own game.
Best SVD Spear Knight in the server for quite some time
How about games that drove you towards the noose?
>>35500835
I'm not talking about the game now adays, but tf2 is still pretty comfy, things like 2fort servers still have a geniuine sort of feel of community while the two hour matches drag on.
>>35500867
So, any team game basically? Fuck, can't even rely on teammates in War Thunder.
>>35500867
Good summary of almost every Dota game ever.
> Be on a team with atleast one Russian who wont listen and behaves recklessly instead of using teamwork
If any of my Lokalen #4 (RB #4) bros from the best Dustbowl server hang out here, hit me up. Those were good years for gaming. I still hang with some of the crowd, come and play Overwatch with us!
Lokalen was based from Sweden, though most were not Swedes.
>>35500925
> Overwatch
I'd rather neck myself, thanks.
>>35500925
I only played overwatch for like 8 hours before I was completely done with the game, I still try to come back but I can't play for more than 15 minutes before I get bored.
Warcraft 3, Guild Wars, EVE Online, CS:S
Has that comfy feeling to it
Monster Hunter and Demon's/Dark Souls
>>35500754
I dream of going back to the fuckin good old days
>>35500754
I still play it, though it's a shadow of its former glory. It was my way to cope with high school, then uni, and now a shitty job. I don't think I'd be able to function normally if after getting back from work I couldn't play for a few hours.
>almost 20 years old
>dlc still coming out
Feels comfy
habbo
This game was the fucking shit, it gave me a real sense of accomplishment and made me feel super smart.
>>35500939
>>35500959
Why the hate for Overwatch? Easily my favorite FPS of all time. Too chaotic to get old.
playing with serbian i met online for 6 years together
Not in high school, but this game kept my sane when I was in the Army.
Play as the "bad guys" really let me blow off a lot of steam.
Junior enlisted don't have a lot of power, and playing as the Wehrmacht and OKW gave me the power I was looking for.
>>35501513
Because each class has a skill ceiling of a fucking nanometer.
>>35500916
russians were the good ones
eu west was real cancer
>Crap day at school
>Back in my terraced house in urban UK
>Mummy about to put my siblings to bed
>Kids TV bedtime shows coming to a close (I still remember the songs)
>Load up my laptop and play pic related for a few hours each night
Honestly I do miss those days.
>>35500719
Empire earth was pretty good, too bad the sequels sucked.
I wish I spent my time and autism learning to compete in Smash Bros Melee or something instead of TF2. Maybe I could have become a ranked player or something. I don't have anything to show for all the time I wasted on TF2 except for the fact that I'm still alive. Any other good-at-vidya anons have regrets like this?
>pic unrelated but still a great game
>>35501601
Mccree, Widowmaker, Genji, and Tracer are a few examples of characters with fairly high skill ceilings, play those and get to gm if the game is just 2 EZ for you.
>>35501601
That's just not true. Zarya? Genji? Hanzo?
>>35501769
If you were good enough at tf2 you might be able to compete in the bigger leagues but those guys were fucking gods.
>>35501801
>>35501830
>Mccree
Highnoon.jpg
>Widowmaker
Point and shoot game... WITH A GRAPPLING HOOK.
>Tracer
Press q when you're in trouble!!!
The problem with overwatches skill ceiling is that every characters central mechanic is practically controlled by one or two buttons. Within like a few hours you can basically get the gist of the harder classes.
>>35501830
Yeah, that's why I said a few examples. I didn't name all of the skilled classes.
>>35501830
>Zarya?
You fucking joking? I main Zarya and it's as easy as counting to 3.
>See retard diving in
>bubble him
>have health meters turned on so just see whose HP is deteriorating like crazy
>Bubble yourself whilst suiciding into the enemy
The only difficulty with Zarya is synergising your graviton surge.
middle and high school
>>35501852
>Highnoon.jpg
Mccree's ult sucks and is countered by all the cc and barriers in the game.
>Point and shoot game
Yeah... that's what first person shooters are.
>Press q when you're in trouble
It takes time to charge an ult and it's difficult to land bombs consistently on small targets
>central mechanic controlled by one or two classes
Yeah, those classes are not skilled, but that's why I mentioned classes that take aim/reflexes, (Mccree, Genji, Tracer, Widow, Hanzo, Zarya)
>>35502004
I meant to say buttons instead of classes.
>>35502004
If you consider aiming all there needs to be in mastering a class then I would argue that thats evidence that the game is a little on the trash side, good mutliplayer shooters have hundreds of other elements per class that you need to master to become skilled.
Probably, the closest thing to friends I had in the past 10 years was one this game but just like irl they all left one by one time any time I tried to make new friend I would feel so out of place because everyone else would already have pre-established relationships
still I remember skipping school on days with movies to grind my summoner
>>35501852
I actually did play ESEA-IM in TF2 but never found the will to advance. You get to the highest tier of competition in that game either by having top 0.0001% aim, or, more commonly, by being merely "good enough" and integrating yourself into certain social spheres until someone who knows you picks you up for their team. As to the first method: well, I was good, but not that inhumanly good. Even at the very top level, not everyone is that good. And, as an autist, this second avenue of promotion was impossible for me. Hence why I wish I would have chosen to play a 1v1 game. Sure other players could still benefit from friends giving them better opportunities and shit, but I think in those games (fightan, smash, quake, etc) it's a lot easier to literally do it all on your own.
But even at the highest levels of TF2 there's not much to show for it. There are no "real" pro players since nobody makes a living from competition. The game has languished at this "kinda almost e-sports" level for years; it could have been huge when orgs like EG and coL were still invested in the scene, but it just never took off. Which is a shame, because the game itself is fun as fuck to play competitively.

Where are my oldschoolfags at?
