Why does borderline personality disorder seem to be an almost exclusively female phenomenon?
Some males may have it, but have enough emotional control or temperance that it isn't noticeable or considered a disorder worth treating.

Emotional disturbance in men tends to manifest as antisocial personality disorder. The two disorders likely have similar causes, but differing brain chemistry causes men and women to present different symptoms.
There are, of course, women who display antisocial disorder and men who display borderline, but those are rarer.
