I'm not sure if I understand comfy
Is this it? I just take random pics when I'm walking around

not really pick a more either calm or aesthetically pleasing environment

comfy is a forlorn feeling of wanting to exist in the moments of absolute bliss you find from experience or in pictures you like. comfy is subjective but there's a few trends you can whittle it down to.
>urban japan
>skylines
>warm colors
>tight spaces
>rural japan
>eastern Europe sometimes, (mostly russia and the like)
>pink skylines
>VHS filters over just about anything.
you have the right idea. compositon is very important when it comes to creating an aesthetic picture (obviously)

I dont think its necessarily just japan - I think most dense urban areas can work if the picture's shot right.

I think something that provides a lot of comfy is lots of greys / midtones punctuated with desaturated colour. think the yellows on the left hand side, and the neon signs down the street in the picture you posted.

other things id consider comfy
>rain
>mist

basically i'd say just anything you can look at and feel calm, or like you want to be there.

thats just my two cents though.

You're on the right path but you should learn about composition.

>>35484063
You summed it up pretty perfectly bud.

Here's some aesthetic shit I took. Bridge in Carmel, IN.

Wow what a cool and interesting country that I learned about through my love of anime and manga.

composition just seems like a dumb meme people spout when they want to get on a picture but can't use actual words
then you post a blurry smudged pic and people say "wow so comfy it was taken at night"

Yeah to be honest that one's not my best stuff. I like this one more.

Composition isn't 100% a meme, but it is a bit overused when critiquing shit.
>>
>>35484882
composition seems entirely like a meme, there's no feedback to it
just "learn composition"
like "go read x" on /ic/ or "go read sicp" on /g/
absolutely nothing to take from it besides "I don't like this thing but i thought you should know"

Man, what is it about these warm colors and urban environments that just triggers that comfy feeling? I remember when I first played Sonic 2 and got to Oil Ocean Zone, and I just instantly thought "I wish I could be there". Even before the whole comfy/aesthetic thing took off, there was something intrinsically pleasing about these types of pictures/environments.

nig composition is just a basic component of any image, are you retarded? it's like saying 'man shapes are such memes, all anyone wants to talk about is circles or squares'

you can't have an image without composition, and when people comment or analyze composition they're just trying to figure out what makes something have appeal.
>>
>>35485201
there's no way to improve from someone saying "this composition sucks"
it's just a meme and a cop-out instead of giving actual feedback
just "I don't like this but can't give any other reasons"
I'd figure people on a board where they chafe at the "just be urself" non-advice this wouldn't be something people actually say

I wouldn't really bother saving it since apparently the composition police said it's bad
I tried messing around with different color values and saturation to try and change it though

I'm a shitty instagram photographer so I gotta ask: did you turn up the structure at all? Because it looks kinda neat.

I like the sky here. Later on I saw Logan, which is the first movie I cried at in a while.

More yellow in high and mid
More red in low
Desaturated everything that wasn't the tower or train

The word comfy is surprisingly subjective

It's unclear what exactly it's supposed to mean but the easiest way to summarise it is to say that it gives you a sense of belonging and lets you use your imagination to fill in the details with all the things it represents.

The Dark Souls series is monumentally miserable but it's comfy to me and many others because it's a sprawling and intricately woven world filled with secrets and little details if you take the time to stop and smell the flowers.

Desolate concrete communist cities, lush fields, contemporary architecture futuristic cyberpunk cityscapes and the military are all comfy depending on who you ask. Even things that are meant to be creepy and unsettling are comfy to some people.

We've really struck something special here and it gets people to stop arguing obscure cuckold politics for 5 minutes so let's hold onto it as much as possible.

When I was a kid I would gather my favorite toys and put them in a basket with a bunch of blankets and pillows to build a small enclosure under a nightstand. I would have to curl up to fit under it but it was super comfy.

I spend a lot of time by myself...

Comfiness is for sure a unique feeling, and it's always fleeting.
>>
>>35484998
Big, interesting things to explore.

Also the thing about technology like that is that it's stylized (I guess that's the word) but it's stylized for a purpose, these big concrete towers and their various appendages all serve a purpose. A lot of drawings about fictional worlds (cyberpunk) make things look complex and stylized but not for any good reason, as a result it looks tacky.

Rust was the best maps in video game history

You know what's comfy for me? Being inside while nature happens, raining while I'm protected from it, inside a house during a thunderstorm or snowstorm.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
