i think the secret to fighting this bullshit is not making any excuses, toxic behavior is not okay even if you do have a mental illness. i had someone special and completely destroyed any love she had for me because i was terrible to her and wouldnt let her love me
if you have bpd too, don't make excuses for yourself. don't push people away if they love you and just want to help

Its hard for people to sympathize with others when they're toxic to be around. That's in part why it's so hard for robots with BPD to function happily.
I think the trick is to try and mitigate negative behavior by identifying it and taking steps to avoid repeating it, as well as making sure to apologize to those you've wronged and making a genuine effort to lay out why it was you acted how you did.
All of these things are difficult, and it doesn't all get better overnight, but I've been feeling better overall since I've started trying.
