Path of Exile is better desu. Ideal would be PoE mechanics/builds/skills in the world of D2 with the smoothness of D3.

I have played path of exile, but it just seemed forced in terms of story. I don't really liked it. It does have a good skill set but it's over everywhere so it doesn't really fit well with me. You can't build a character the same way you build it in D2. Also the music of D2 is the best ever.

You can have extremely specialized builds with great variation, most of them very viable too. D2 had like 4-5 real builds and everything else was trash/nothing.

I meant it as like using runes, using horadric cube for synthesizing gems, what socket items would go where, what rare items you need and how you can make a set....that itself became an art...we could farm hours looking for gems and runes. That became an art in itself.

I think for most oldfags it was the beginning of robotdom as this game came in around 2000 and LoD came in 2002 and it kind of define a genre in gaming and it was pretty popular itself.

Me too anon. Diablo 3 really disappointed me to be honest. It wasn't scary at all like d1 and d2, was glossy like games are and music wasn't the same too.

Actually every class had an NPC that was "into" them and had special dialogue for them. Don't remember which for which though.

There was a period where Diablo 3 was amazing. It had the RMAH, there was no torment modes, only hell mode as the hardest and nobody could do hell mode beyond the beginning of act 2. Anything beyond it everything insta killed you or it took forever to kill a special mob.

People would farm the siege breaker monster by dying in the area and letting invincible tyrael kill it slowly. Took awhile but the loot was phat, and you could sell it for gold or even real dollars on the RMAH.

But some fat turbo autist ruined everything.

I really hated that monster you meet in the Tomb of Tal Rasha. That fat slob who was very fast and used ice attacks. I used to main as a summoning necromancer so that place really sucked as I had no summons in that little place. Hated that son of a bitch.

My favorite PC game of all time, so perfect in it's simplicity, It aged really well too.

I have never played it but for some reason I know of some people that love the game. Even some guy who doesn't care for video games yet loves this game. I have never even played anything in the genre.

So should I finally play this game? I feel I could like the genre if I gave it an honest try. Its just that I never really came around to it.

It was a game that meant to be what it should be, just a game. No politics or preaching and stuff like that, just hack and slash with a nice story and decent game mechanics with its set items. Now a days people just over complicate things so bad trying to make games look more badass and complex. Sometimes just 3 decent skills are way more better then 100 of items and skill set but that's hard for people to understand now.

You won't be as impressed by it because the mechanics are a bit clunky and glitchy compared to newer games, for example your character gets desynchronized and invisibly "stuck" in things and it makes it seem like you're lagging. It was beyond amazing in its time but if you're used to smooth recent games you'll be annoyed. It's still a wonderful game though but lots of nostalgia goggles going on.

So to cross that guy I always used a town portal and then hire a mercenary to be the meat shield so that I can kill that asshole and repeat that over and over again. My favourite soundtrack of all time, "the wild" gives me fucking goosebumps everytime. Its kind of fascinating looking back at how good the graphics were for the time. I recently downloaded it because im /3/ and wanted to remake some areas with the latest in realistic graphics and was shocked at how good it already was.

The music was amazing man...I still listen to Tristam. And yeah the art is amazing, especially on the hills in the last arc in the barbarian village. Also in the desert. It looks kinda old and used like the world should be, not all glossy as it is in the present games. I always liked that about it. The game always gave me an ancient/medieval feel by its art.
