As a result, of course they're going to describe what they're doing as "cult tactics" in order to scare readers and continue to get them to not question their worldview. In reality, you could draw parallels between something and a nefarious topic, and have it come across as sane. I could compare car salesmen and sociopaths, or commercials and brainwashing, or Halloween and pedophilia, but does that give the topic any actual validity, or is it mere coincidence, associated with a bad thing in order to get you to think a certain way? In reality, the "cult tactics" described are most likely a tactic that literally every movement, including the one that Cracked stands for, uses to get people on their side.

They're two sides of the same coin, extremists trying to control the way that you think, playing tug-of-war over each and every single of us, keeping each of us in our comfortable camps where we never think outside the box or question our worldviews. Chances are, the truth lies in the middle.

personally i don't mind that people have an agenda at least crack is somewhat forward about theirs when it comes to digesting information it's kind of handy to know from the get go what their bias is, although i'll admit i've put a lot of right leaning propaganda specifically in retaliation of some of their articles which felt like personal attacks that manage to meld some aspect of me into a boogyman stereotype to directly attack my character and cause me personal harm as they've referenced some of my non anon writings specifically. Otherwise I wouldn't of shilled for trump so hard or covertly on some parts of the net during the election so I think it all balances out. i'm more of a libertarian at heart so i like to get more than one perspective on an issue even if it has it's own slant.

I used to be really deep in it and the mind set. I can see why people think it's a cult. They introduce you with all this mind blowing information at first that makes you "see the light/take the redpill". Then you get curious about what other facts you can discover and you go down the rabbit hole.Then you go through the "anger phase" which is meant to be some kind of initiation. If you are a person who doesn't question everything you read it's easy to get sucked in. After a while though everything just sounds so absurd.

The really weird and creepy part of pua and stuff is turning every encounter into a typical transaction every time. Where I know my approach doesn't work attempting to talk about new stuff if I hit a conversation off with a girl I'll move on and try a different conversation topic or something with another one. Where pua is all about using the same topic over and over again and trying to get the correct response from it. I just find it more interesting to do something new and see how it works out, it seems very autistic to repeatedly do the same thing over and over again. People generally don't recognize you're performing a skit since you get a new audience to repeat your play over and over again but I can't really see myself wanting to do that sort of thing.
