i'm comfortable working and supporting an overall arching system.

but if that overlord should get corrupt, the people below do revolt and push hard for change.

i think that the fact we live in 2017 and that everything from laws to tennis wimbledon tournaments still follows a base system 100s of years ago makes me think an outside entity controls that this world doesn't advance and is set for some doomsday or purge when we finally do break the code
