Yeah honestly OP it actually is an impressive amount of willpower.

I get why you made this thread. You had it in your head "OH YEAH WELL I HAVEN'T HAD SEX IN MY ENTIRE LIFE I'M 20+ WHERE'S MY ARTICLE" but the fact of the matter is you're an incel. You went that long without sex because you have no choice.

The writer of that article could've had a big dick lined up and ready to pound her at any time, just a phone call away.

You're stranded on a desert island with nothing to eat. She sat at a banquet table stacked with the most delicious foods known to man every day for over a year and chose not to eat any of it.

If you could sit down at that banquet table whenever you wanted, you would be obese in no time. But you're not even allowed in the building, so instead you come on here and act like you're strong when in reality you're just starving.

Seriously, how many sexual partners are normal for a say, 22 year old woman?

It terrifies me that they get sex so easily. I haven't fucked since my first time back when I was 16 and I'm 23 now.
>>
>hurrr I didn't have a dick in me for 14 months

>>
Really makes me wish for a nuclear winter.
>>
The thing is, she knew she could have sex whenever she wanted.

She probably turned down sex several times.

It's not all about "sexual urges".
She has no idea how much worse it feels to know that nobody wants you, that people see you as completely inadequate and undesirable.

All throughout that year, she would have had constant validation, even if she chose not to carry out the physical act associated with it.
>>
>>35326806
All this supposed willpower amounts to nothing if you can't resist bragging about it to the millions of people starved for sex.
>>
>>35327170

Fuck man, she had even MORE validation than if she would of had sex. Now she gets to stand on her "I'm a very attractive white woman and I didn't fuck anybody because I'm strong" box.

Have these fucking normies never heard of nuns? There's 50 thousand women who actually swear an oath to their sky daddy that they won't fuck no one, but him. Shit I bet a lot of them don't masterbait either.

But, who cares about them, they aren't attractive.
>>
>>35326563
You could have become a wizard. I hope she was worth it.
>>
>>35327081
I would believe that the sex distributions among women are kinda like with men just not as extreme in either direction. While it's easy for women to get sex there are still a fair amount of scaredy cat girls that don't really dare sexing around, and then there are those frigid ones that don't really care about sex.
>>
i actually just read this article completely coincidentally. it's on esquire. i was re-reading the insane jeb lund (lel) piece about the florida trump rally and i got baited into clicking the article

http://www.esquire.com/lifestyle/sex/a53585/no-sex-for-a-year/

this really rings my JNCO jing jangs for a number of reasons. note that i'm not even a run-of-the-mill /r9k/ misogynist; i'm not approaching this from the perspective of "reeee roasties just spread their legs and chad will appear." so here's my long and useless post about it.

nessif (bruna nessif is the author, in case that wasn't clear) starts off by explaining why she decided to abstain from penis for a year: some dude hit her up on fucking instagram and after she learned he 'wasn't looking for anything serious,' she had some kind of moment of moral revelation.

on its face, this makes basically no sense. we're supposed to believe that a woman who MAKES A LIVING WRITING A DATING COLUMN (yes like fucking carrie from sex and the city) views it as essential that potential male suitors be interested in a long-term commitment, and moreover that she looks to communicate this by liking a dude's pictures on instagram. we could sort of overlook the fact that she allegedly believes random men who DM her on social media are looking for serious emotional commitment, but she says later in the article:
>some of my girlfriends loved living vicariously through me, so my decision to willingly give up "wild sex with strangers" was almost like putting them on lockdown, too.
nessif can't seem to decide whether it makes more sense to paint herself as the kind of person who is interested in legitimate commitment or as a free-spirited advocate of casual sex. so right from the onset her intentions should give us considerable pause.
>>
>>35327612

anyway after she explains that she decided to be 'just friends' with instagram man, she then hits us with what i think is supposed to be the justification for her ascetic endeavor:
>Whether it was my first boyfriend cheating on me because I was scared to ditch my V-card or the mere fact that our generation tends to look at sex as a means-to-an-end instead of a privilege, I was somehow made to believe that having sex was necessary to make a guy like me--and if I didn't do it, then poof, he was going to disappear and it'd be my fault.
here, she falls back on an institutional explanation for her behavior: the dating mechanisms of 'our generation' have essentially perpetuated self-directed misogyny and somehow caused her to believe that you must have sex with men in order for them to consider you seriously as a girlfriend rather than just a lover. this is the part i assume a lot of people who actually read this massive post will start to rage at, but let's assume that she's being upfront about this. personally, i buy the idea that she's received and internalized these messages about how to negotiate sex and relationships--i think /r9k/ also tends to believe there's a deleterious effect associated with 'modern dating' and perhaps wouldn't even disagree on this point were it being made by someone less female.
>>
>>35327631

so naturally nessif's response to discovering the incongruity between her received understanding of 'dating' and her actual personal desires (one also wonders how she has presumably been writing as an authority on sexual relationships yet has only now discovered this...) leads her to the point of the article, which is that she decided to relinquish sex until
>the guy I was talking to made me feel like the goddess I am. No more worrying about other women, because the right guy will make it clear that I'm all he sees.
this is a little revealing--she suggests that her real problem with casual sex is not its "means-to-an-end" role she identifies in the preceding paragraph, but rather the fact that she remains in competition with other women for as long as her sexual relationship is not officially monogamous. i'm not saying this position is 'un-feminist' or anything--it's not--but it's not really the complaint she identified earlier. in fact, it's way different. there's a fundamental mismatch between problem and solution here.

the bulk of the article from this point onward generally describes her experience abstaining from sex. it hits all the notes you expect it to: from 'men can't stop lusting after me, tee-hee' to 'i couldn't believe it was so hard to constantly not get laid' with an added dash of 'my strange chorus of girlfriends was upset i wasn't getting dick anymore for some reason'. this is, i assume, what people read these articles for. to her credit, she does mention that her unquenchable thirst for cum died down after some time.
>>
>>35327646

there's also a kind of funny interlude where esquire, presumably in a play for additional length, seems to have decided the article needed a picture for the online version. given that the subject and scope of the article begins and ends with nessif herself, it's unsurprising that all they could come up with is a professionally-shot glam shot of the author in an incredibly low-cut red top with the caption "The author." this is particularly amusing because it comes right after a paragraph in which she says
>My sex life wasn't off-the-charts to begin with, so it wasn't like I was dodging D everywhere I turned.
so the fact that this is immediately offset by a gratiutous cleavage shot adds a little bit of unintentional humor. also, again, we're left to wonder how a woman who thinks a dude who sends her messages on instagram is probably looking for marriage, who thinks 'i will abstain from sex' is a logical response to 'i don't like that i feel that i have to have sex with men in order to legitimize myself as a potential girlfriend', and who APPARENTLY DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A LOT OF SEX IN THE FIRST PLACE is still somehow getting paid to write about sex, love, and relationships.
>>
>>35327662

where the article really gets strange is the end. she finishes her year of chastity (though she implies earlier that she has continued to abstain from sex, i guess, despite using the past tense when talking about her no-sex project) and describes it as such:
>I find myself having mixed feelings about the entire experience. There was a hint of sadness at the realization that I've gone a year without coming across a man I liked who was also willing to invest in me.
she acknowledges later that this could have been due to her own preferences or due to "having an old-school approach in a time where people don't value basic dating principles anymore" but the basic problem remains: nessif identifies that it is apparently a feature of the contemporary dating world that people like to bang before they officially enter into a relationship, says she doesn't like that, and then feels bad because nobody wanted to play according to her intentionally-outdated rulebook. at best, this suggests that her initial appraisal of the way dating works was correct--but her project wasn't transcendent in any way; she didn't overcome any kind of societal more; she pretty much just selected a path that, in her own reckoning, was guaranteed to produce unhappy results, and then announced that the results were unhappy. she describes her endeavor as "an effort to alter that mindset" and it completely and predictably failed.

overall though her feelings are mixed:
>keeping the proverbial chastity belt on lockdown didn't become the secret trick to get a guy to drop his roster and make me his MVP. But I'm OK with that, because that was never the motive to begin with.
you might remember that her goal was to not
>give it up until the guy I was talking to made me feel like the goddess I am. No more worrying about other women, because the right guy will make it clear that I'm all he sees.
her writing at the end reads more like desperate rationalization than genuine contendedness.
>>
>>35327676

her motivation undergoes a similar revision at the very end:
>I did this experiment to help trash the mentality of having to throw sex at a man to keep his interest, and to remind myself that I am worth loving without having to spread my legs first. I stuck to my guns, and for that reason alone, the disappointment was overshadowed with immense pride. I wanted to stop putting myself in scenarios that made me feel disposable, and I did. I wanted to wait for the man who would bet on me, and I still am, because I know what I bring to the table.
here she says a number of things:
1. i wanted to 'trash the mentality' that i perceive to underlie contemporary dating (does she mean her own mentality? or is she talking about effecting broader societal change? i think she means the former but wants to imply the latter.)
2. the real reason my failed experiment was a success was because i successfully did a thing according to my stated criteria.
3. i wanted to stop having casual sex so i stopped.
4. this experience has still failed to actually produce positive results but i'm sure it will!

i come away from this article incredibly confused about the author's motivations. i don't understand what she learned, why it was useful, and i generally have no reason to care about any of this except for the knee-jerk 'this is a stupid premise' which compelled me to actually read the thing. is this why this is published? because a certain portion of people will hate-read the thing (and a certain portion of people will read it and go 'haha yeah you go girl!')?
the big thing i came away thinking is that nessif expresses herself remarkably poorly for an ostensibly professional writer. it's as if she wanted to write an article about personal growth, or perhaps an article about resistance to a societal norm, but instead she has produced some kind of middling diary entry where she neither grows nor resists anything.

fuck this woman
time to kill myself for writing all of this

in other words, her "experiment" was utterly pointless and it's strange that people think you have to throw sex at a man to keep him interested.

you don't, you just have to be genuinely interested in the same things. keyword there being genuine.

the only people who think that are people who never tried using their own character to win people over, they've always just used sex to win guys over and they have to actually step into a juxtaposition to realize they were the ones playing themselves the entire time.

Whether you like it or not, this is an accomplishment for a woman. Women can get sex in 3 minutes at any time, they could literally call some random guy over off the street and they'd be fucking in 2 seconds. Women have it that easy and women all desire sex so for her to go that long shows how strong and brave she is.
