Do yourself a favor and read Starshio Troopers by Robert A. Heinlein (which is almost nothing like the movie based on it). The military is more like the Mobile Infantry these days in that it is now an all-volunteer high-tech strike force as opposed to a barely held together collection of scared conscripts who just want to go home.
