It depends entirely on the design of the handgun. Older handguns will fire if dropped. M1911's that don't have the controversial Series 80 modifications will do it, as will a lot of old single action revolvers. Glocks and most modern handguns won't.

There's no definitive answer on whether a gun will or won't go off when dropped unless we know the gun and the conditions of the dropping.
