What a lot of people are not getting is YES, social media does make it harder, however it does not mean you can't use social media to your advantage.

Being a serial killer is a huge skill nobody has been working on as far as I can tell from the news. I believe to be a successful 21st century serial killer you have to step up your stalking game. This is where social media plays a big role, if you can get access to your victims phone and send out mass texts and updates on how they will be going on vacation (and choosing the right victim to be doing that sort of thing) than you might be able to have 1-2 weeks tops of no one even knowing where the body is. Honestly, if you choose victims randomly (no pattern or proximity) and you make sure every kill is stalked and planned carefully like Dexter, and you leave your cell phone at home and never google anything related to this, then you will probably get away with it for quite awhile.
