Children 0-3 have no memories and aren't even conscious. After death there is no conscious. So what's the problem with killing infants? There's virtually no loss. Inb4 imagine it's your kid, I would never have kids like a disgusting normie
Consciousness is not that clearly defined my man. Declarative memories may not form until ~3 years old, but nondeclarative ones definitely are (eg learning to speak and walk and generally learning what being alive is like). There's literally no way to prove anyone or anything has or does not have consciousness.
I do agree with you though, there isn't any significant difference between a fetus about to be born and a baby born minutes ago, and there isn't any single significant step from being a collection of human cells to being a human. So if we're okay for killing embryos and young fetuses it's seems weird to me that we aren't okay with killing babies. I mean it's not that weird but from an abstract, objective, big picture kind of way it is.

Basically when Descartes lived philosophers couldn't figure out if anything existed at all. Descartes was also afraid that a devil was feeding him illusions. Then he coined "cogito ergo sum", I think therefore I am If nothing else you can prove that your mind exists. And if you can prove that your mind exists you can start proving that other things exist.
