I always thought Meursault from l'etranger was an edgelord but after reading the myth of sisyphus I became an absurdist myself and enjoyed life a lot more, I embraced the absurd while I was hospitalised because of suicidal tendencies, the myth of sisyphus blew my mind and completely changed my world view

here is my understanding.

you can have goals worth striving for. this creates meaning.

suicide is basically an excuse to refuse to do so. a courageous man would shit or get off the pot. when i was young i used suicide as a, "get out of reality free," card.

furthermore, conceptualizing grievances against living and reality, even valid ones, allows the individual to remain satisfied with doing nothing. this dynamic force that has been used to help the disenfranchised becomes a bulwark for the wretched and impotent to remain content with their lot.

objective meaning, for me, had failed in the search for itself.
